“The Colorado Cowboy”
for Symphonic Band
The Great State of Colorado will be celebrating it’s 150th birthday (sesquicentennial) on August 1st, 2026. Forming out of the Colorado Territories, President Grant admitted Colorado as the 38th state in 1876, also gaining the nickname, “The Centennial State” being created one-hundred years after the founding of our nation in 1776.
In celebration, I am finishing a piece for Symphonic Band titled “The Colorado Cowboy”. It takes some musical material from an older and unfinished piece titled “Nil Sine Numine” (named after Colorado’s state motto, “Nothing Without Providence”), which tells the entire history of Colorado through music.
“The Colorado Cowboy” is a dynamic musical embodiment of the Spirit of the Cowboy and the West, riding themes and styles often associated with the West.
In addition, many of my other Western-themed works are available in celebration of Colorado’s 150th birthday!
